Happy Women’s Equality Day!

“I raise up my voice — not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard … we cannot succeed when half of us are held back.” ~Malala Yousafzai

The term “Women’s Equality Day” is a bit unfortunate, since it implies, when out of context, that women only have one day of equality a year. And, perhaps, it’s true that that’s all the equality they have. But the day actually commemorates the enactment of the newly ratified 19th Amendment of 1920 that recognized the right of female Americans to vote.

So, Happy Women’s Equality Day!

(But we all have a long way to go, baby.)
