Happy Anniversary, 19th Amendment

womens right to vote

This week in 1920, Congress ratified the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guaranteeing citizens the right to vote regardless of their gender. It was sent to the states for ratification.

 

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
