Today in 1968, Dr. Marin Luther King, Jr. delivered his “mountaintop” speech, just one day before falling to an assassin. It’s a good day to remember and act on these words:
“Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand with a greater determination. And let us move on in these powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it ought to be.”

What a sad day with Martin Luther King Jr. fell victim to an assassin’s bullet. I remember the riots in Washington, D.C. that followed very well. My mother, sister and I were actually downtown when the news broke. How we got out of the city and home in one piece, I’ll never know. The days that followed were both sad and frightening. One of our neighbors came over to our house to offer my father a rifle. He shut the door in the man’ face.
Bravo for your father.
