“Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain – and most fools do.”
~Happy Birthday, Benjamin Franklin!
The quote above is one segment of an answer Mr. Franklin gave to a question about his diplomatic success in the newly formed United States.
In full, his response was: “I will speak ill of no man, and speak all the good I know of everybody. Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain — and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving.”
Sadly, this philosophy is no longer embraced by the American political leadership. Times change.
